I spent the weekend in Vegas at CES. In case you aren’t as nerdy as me, CES stands for Consumer Electronics Show. It’s where leading manufacturers from around the world gather to showoff their newest gadgets. In other words, it’s heaven on earth for geeks and techies. I mean, who doesn’t want to play with all the latest and greatest pieces of technology from around the world?
Now, you’re probably wondering why the heck I happened to be 1 of the 100,000 people from around the world standing on the conference floor… Well, here’s your answer:
If you can’t tell from my reactions in the video, I’m blown away by how it all came together. This little guy can really move! And the robo dance-off in the end killed it! I’m thinking my newest show might be Dancing with the Robots… what do you think? Ha!
Okay so now that you’ve watched, tell me honestly… how do you think my newest Robo student performed? Shoot me some comments, people! I want your feedback.
PS. If you haven't seen the pictures of Tosy and me, check em out here and here.

Derek, I can only imagine how much of a kick you got out of watching the dancing robots trying to imitate you, haha! The dancing robos are so amazingly fun and hilarious in an epicly brilliant fashion. -
You can choreograph anything! You should do a routine on DWTS with an army of these little guys backing you up! LOL!! -
Derek, this just made me smile and WOW!! That is incredible how the movements were like they were real and alive:) I am blown away, Loved it!! -
you actually did the coreography for this robot??!!!! OMG!! WHAT A LUCKY ROBOT!!! AWESOME!!!! totally impresed...!! -
Okay that was totally COOL!!! You are so so talented! And the best part is...you are so genuine! You are one of the best choreographers of this time! :) -
-
Totally Awesome!!!!!!! I can't wait to get one! That is soooo totally AWESOME knowing you choreographed it. Your talent is beyond expectations. Love it! -
That's pretty cool, but when will we see two robots being able to ballroom dance together? A little Robo-Rhumba I think... ;) -
I would say a job well done...not knowing the outcome is always something to be a little nervous about. -

Love my fun & functional tech & gadgets. Was interested after your first post. Now I definitely am planning the little guy as my next portable speaker system. Was elated and amused by the dueling robo dancers. -
Where to start? I think that it is one of the best things that you did until now. Ok...you did a lot of great things in your life: you are a great choreographer (even an innovative one), great performer, musician, actor...a GREAT person...BUT to be able to choreograph for a robot is the best case scenario! to get a mirror ball trophy???...yes...it is good, to get 4(we say 4 because we count the one from the All Star season too :)) ) is great, but to choreograph for a robot is AMAZING, Derek!
Your choreography was sooo good that it managed to replicate the movements of a human! What can be better than that? You revolutionize your capacity for choreographing and creativity!
mRobo is an intelligence that will have a huge social impact.
You should be more than proud! we sure ARE!!!!!!!!! -
Your robot student did an awesome job! Its so neat that you got the opportunity to choreograph for something like that. It shows just how far technology has come over the years. Hey, maybe your idea for the dancing with robots isn't too far off in the future.. Who knows? :) -

Dear Derek,
Wow, that is so amazing, how far robot technology has come! It reminds me of Rosie the Robot on the cartoon "The Jetsons" only this is in real life! I'm so glad you posted this for us to see! It was a joy for me!

I think it is great that you got the opportunity to do this choreography for mrobo and of course you did a superlative job as you always do. As these types of artificial intelligences become increasingly human in appearance and manner and in this case movement, they are going to become increasingly important in our lives and increasingly in demand so I hope that the benefit of being in on the ground floor so to speak will serve you well. We never know what to expect from you next but it is always something interesting and exciting. -
Awesome!!! Your "kids" are amazing dancers. If I were Bill Gates, I would get a whole dance company of them... -
Someone in that company must have been very impressed. This whole event is such a BIG deal and all about innovation and new technology. For them to ask you to help present their new product is great. I really liked how you were able to match the music to mRobo's abilities, his range of movement...just like you have done with all of your "partners"
Loved it and I'll bet you did too !! -
Amazing Derek! You should have had the robots dancing to your Futuristic Paso Doble with Joanna Krupa. Love that dance and it would have be fun to see the robots performing it. Never an end to all your extraordinary talents! -
I never seen anything like that. It was pretty amazing. Especially the syncing and the way the robots challenge each other to see whose boss on the dance floor. Pretty cool. -
Loved that! I want one of those. I collect 16" Fashion Dolls and this would be too funny to have with the collection!
Great job on "teaching" them the dances too. Did you get to keep one? -
Derek you did a great job. The robot was awesome. If I could I would buy one. You are awesome at everything you do and teach. -
it is a little intimidating but not surprised as to how on he was to the music...look who did the choreographing..he "learned" from the best!!!! -
That was the coolest thing I have seen in a while. It brings a whole new meaning to "doing the 'Robot'". I liked the I Know You Want Me dance but the coolest part was probably the dance-off..... Oh and I like your mustache.
