Wow, such memories. I was in high school when IOF I happened and God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood came out. We sang it in our annual Dogwood Parade w/ the choir and the float was a hugh yellow ribbon. Then I was a nurse in the USN on 9/11 closing out the night shift on the 10th in San Diego. Holidays like 4th of July, Memorial and Veterans Day have definitely taken on new meaning and poignancy in the last 15-20 years. There have been amazing shows and movies about previous wars & conflicts; WWII, Korea, Veitnam. They gave you insight into what veterans maybe feeling or the loss families experienced preserving freedom. I think you have a better appreciation when you or your generation actually live it.
Sorry for the digression, the only song I can think to add the amazing and ecclectic group you have created is Philip Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever. -
