Spending time at the beach with friends and family can definitely mean eating more junk food than ever. But keep in mind, not all junk foods are created equal. Here are some “junk” food snacks that are delicious and good for you.
Sweet Potato & Veggie Fries
You can make your own fries out of things that are good for you like sweet potatoes, green beans and carrots. You simply slice them like French fries, coat them with a light spray of olive oil or cooking spray and bake them in the oven. Delish and good for you!
Dark Chocolate
If you’re going to go for chocolate, go for the dark stuff…it contains antioxidants that help lower blood pressure.
Air-popped Popcorn
You don’t have to cook your popcorn in oil and cover it in butter. You can air pop the corn and then season it with things like cayenne pepper, zero calorie sweeteners for that kettle style flavor, garlic powder and other seasonings that are low in calories.
VitaMuffin
These muffins are delicious and full of fiber and vitamins. You can take a chocolate VitaMuffin, warm it up and put some low fat whip cream on top and you’ve got a delicious chocolate lava cake that is actually good for you!
What are some other “junk” foods that are also good for you?

My favorite go to healthy snack especially during summer is strawberries with greek yogurt. I also love cut up apples with peanut butter or cheese. -
All great "junk" foods. Also if you're going to have a smoothie make your own with fresh fruit ice and you can always add yogurt, try greek yogurt or plain for a healthier option to other yogurts. -
In the South where ppl want their "sweet tea", it's best to brew your own and sweeten with honey instead of sugar or sugar substitutes. -

Thanks for sharing these awesome tips Derek! And your right Sweet Potato Fries are awesome. That is the only way I will eat any kind of fry is at home, after I have baked them in the oven with a healthy oil on it. Also try the same method while roasting aspargus in the oven to. It is beyond delicious! I will have to try the popcorn recipe! :)
People do not realize all the additives companies put in the pre packaged foods for preservation. I prefer Fresh Meats,Veggies, and make it yourself as much as possible. I Love the Eating For Life Cookbook! Super Delicious and Healthy Recipes! Other great and quick meal cookbooks with fresh ingridents is any Cookbook by Rachel Ray. Love her 30 min meals! And I have been known as a Southern Gal to love Paula Deen Recipes but I make Subs to make it more figure friendly, and it is still just as good! For Instance where she uses Lots of Butter, I cut in half and I use a low fat or fat free butter and where she uses heavy cream I use Skim Milk instead. So there are ways to have what you enjoy but make subs to make it work with your diet and as like Derek likes to say Guilt Free!
Hope you all have an amazing week! Lots of Love and Hugs! :) -
